The solemn welcome to new students at the start of the academic year in Coimbra, where fado echoes in Largo da Sé Nova to welcome freshmen and mark the beginning of their academic journey.

Rua da Sofia will be the stage for the traditional Academic Soiree, which features performances by academic groups, autonomous organizations and the Fado Section of the Academic Association of Coimbra

From the Alta down to the Mondego, with costumes designed by the seniors, satirical signs and tin cans on the ankles.

By the river, godparents baptise their godchildren with Mondego water and the faculty insignia are bestowed.
